Doctorate in Education About

An EdD is a doctoral degree that focuses on the practice of education. It is designed for professionals who wish to advance their careers in education and take on leadership roles in the field. The program typically includes coursework in education theory, research methods, leadership and management, and curriculum development.

Unlike a PhD in Education, which emphasizes research and theory, an EdD program is more practice-oriented and focuses on applying research findings to real-world educational settings. EdD programs also tend to place more emphasis on collaborative learning and peer-to-peer interaction, as opposed to the more individualistic nature of PhD programs.

To earn an EdD, students must typically complete a dissertation or capstone project that demonstrates their mastery of the subject matter and ability to apply what they have learned to practical problems in education.

Types of Doctor of Education

Aspirants can pursue the Doctor of Education course in a full-time course or a part-time course. PhD as a course is not offered in distance education and if so procured is deemed to be null and void.

Full-Time Doctor of Education
A full-time Doctor of Education is a typical program. During this time, students are required to attend classes, submit assignments, and take exams on campus. When enrolled in a full-time Doctor of Education course, students gain more exposure, experience, and knowledge by interacting directly with colleagues and faculty.
Part-Time Doctor of Education
Part-time degrees allow the student to complete their degree program on their own time. The course is structured for working professionals. Colleges do offer Doctor of Education as a part-time course.
Distance Doctor of Education
Distance Education colleges allow students to earn their degrees while working. This is frequently the most adaptable type of degree program. Doctor of education not offered as distance education and such PhD obtain is deemed invalid.

Doctorate in Education Highlights

Practice-Oriented
Unlike a PhD in Education, which focuses on research and theory, an EdD program is more practice-oriented and emphasizes the application of research findings to real-world educational settings.
Leadership Development
EdD programs are designed to develop the leadership and management skills of educators so that they can take on leadership roles in educational organizations.
Curriculum Development
EdD programs include coursework on curriculum development, which prepares educators to design and implement effective educational programs.
Research Methods
While an EdD program is not as research-focused as a PhD in Education, it does include coursework in research methods that prepares educators to critically evaluate research findings and apply them to their practice.
Capstone Project
To earn an EdD, students must typically complete a dissertation or capstone project that demonstrates their mastery of the subject matter and ability to apply what they have learned to practical problems in education.
Flexibility
Many EdD programs are designed to be completed while working full-time, with courses offered online or in the evenings and weekends to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals.

Degrees) (1st Amendment) Regulations, 2018 and subsequent amendments. The entire procedure for admission to the research programs encompasses a Research Entrance Exam (RET) and then an Interview/Viva Voce. The performance of a candidate in the RET is given 70% weightage, and the remaining 30% weightage is given to his/her performance at the Interview.
